    "Recorded it" is more likely.

Re: what goes into the gap?

    Thanks.
But when we say 'my husband recorded it for me' I think it means he used a device (recorder) so I that can watch it later.
But I want to say 'it was an oral reproduction'. Something like 'when I arrived home, my husband started talking about that TV series.'

".. but my husband described it for me" would be a common option.
    or:
".. but my husband brought me up to speed".
".. but my husband brought me up to date".

My husband summarised it for me.
    He rehashed it for me.
He described what happened [in it] for me.

    That is not natural.

Re: what goes into the gap?

"...filled me in" is another option.

"Gave me a synopsis" is a bit more technical term.
