    please set me clear on the following in red.

    ... he began to develop kidney stones, which are extremely painful. "I would rush to the hospital and the hospital would give me a shot of Demerol in the butt, and eventually I would pass it," he said.

    Does the above mean "the pain faded away"?

    I think that it means his kidney stone(s) would exit the body, thus stopping the

    horrible pain of kidney stones, which they say can cause the strongest man to

    cry like a baby.

    When a kidney stone leaves your body (which is a very painful process), it's called "passing" the stone. It comes out the same way as urine and another phrase for urinating is "passing water".
