    What exactly is it supposed to mean?

    Does it meant that it would be nothing (easy) for them to handle it themselves?

    Yes, you have the right idea.

    That would be nothing for them = that would not be a challenge for them to handle it. or that would not be an issue to them.

    It doesn't mean just easy for them to do, it implies this is their de facto behavoir. The "nothing" implies they are doing "nothing outside of their normal MO", i.e. nothing "unusual".
