    it will be chapters three

I can admit that 3 is wrong as it should be "failing", but is 2 correct? Doesn't it have to be "would" in the past? I know invarying facts can have present tense. Is that why?

    Fint the wrong part.-3
1.A:Which lessons do you think will appear on our civics exam?
2.B:You were absent when the teacher announced that it will be chapters three and four.
3.A:Oh, no! I'll end up fail the exam if I don't review those chapters.
4.B:As long as you read them thoroughly, you should do fine.

Re: it will be chapters three

1.A:Which lessons do you think will appear on our civics exam? Fine. I'd use 'in our exam'.
2.B:You were absent when the teacher announced that it will be chapters three and four. Fine, if the assignment of chapters three and four is still, at the moment of speaking, for the future.
    3. You are correct. It should be 'failing'.
4.B:As long as you read them thoroughly, you should do fine. Fine. Perhaps 'do fine' is a little informal, thought there are ten examples in COCA.
