    for the ages

Please help me understand the following in red.

Thanks to the sophisticated software Pixar had developed and its clever and committed people, the movie was turning into a lovable buddy story for the ages.

Is this saying it was turning into a lovable buddy story "for all people regardless of their ages"?

    Thank you.

    Re: for the ages

    Good question.
    But, the answer is no.
Here, "for the ages" means "for a very, very long time" but the sentence is not very well written.

    Re: for the ages

It means that it will be a classic movie that will be remembered and viewed for a long, long time.
