    meaning+ dinner half going

And when Lucy, his nephew's wife, stayed late at her clubs or charity committee meetings, Mark would have the table set and dinner half going.
What is the meaning of the underlined words?

    Re: meaning+ dinner half going

Mark would have the table set and would be half way through cooking dinner.
So dinner was in the process of being prepared.
    Hope it helps.
