I think it is fine, right?
CAUTION: NOT A TEACHER
(1) In my humble (very humble) opinion, I think the answer is YES (you are right).
(2) I found this in the Longman English Grammar by the late L.G. Alexander, who I hear was very popular with international students because he explained grammar so clearly. I have the 1988 edition published by Longman of London and New York.
(3) Since I have given full credit, I believe that I may quote extensively:
(a) Study Mr. Alexander's examples: (The underlined words are my emphasis)
"We can refer to past habit" in three ways:
When I worked on a farm, I always used to get up at 5 a.m.
When I worked on a farm, I would always get up at 5 a.m.
When I worked on a farm, I always got up at 5 a.m.
(4) Therefore, it is only my opinion that the following are correct:
When she was in the hospital last month, she always used to check her email three times a day.
When she was in the hosptial last month, she would always check her email three times a day,
When she was in the hospital last month, she always checked her email three times a day.
