Is is ok to say "I am waiting ON the weekend" rather than"I am waiting FOR the weekend"?

    I wouldn't recommend it.

    Welcome to the forum, sixftgurl.

Please try to give your threads titles that give us some idea of what they are about. 'Waiting on the weekend?' would have been good for this one.

Colloquial AmE, and some dialects of BrE, allow 'wait on' in the sense of (global) standard 'wait for'.

In standard usage, 'wait on' refers to the job of a waiter/maid, etc.

Not a teacher, nor a native.

I'd rather say, 'I'm looking forward to the weekend'.
