    stake

    Quote from VOA News:
"We have an enormous stake in each other's success, in an interconnected world, in a global economy - nations, including our own, will be more prosperous and more secure when we work together."
Does "stake" mean " we will both get benefit from each other's sucess, or we have both contributed o each other's sucess."?
    thanks.

    Re: stake

    "stake" here means "part, participation".

    Re: stake

People can delete their own posts, as The Parser seems to have done.

The simple answer to your question is, when you have a stake in something, you have something that is at risk, and there is something you can gain. The outcome affects you too.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
