    short of expectations

    Please check the following sentences.

    1. I hate my trip to the Flora Expo in Taipei. In the beginning, I was excited about it. But at last , I had no more hope it.
    2. I hate my trip to the Flora Expo in Taipei. In the beginning, I had a great expectation of it. However, I was disappointed about it in the end.

    (Not a Teacher)

As a native speaker, this is how I would put that sentence together:
"I hated my trip to the Flora Expo in Taipei. At first, I was excited, but in the end, I was disappointed."

Her's another way, using more of your second sentence:
"I hated my trip to the Florida Expo. In the beginning, I had great expectations for it, but in the end, I was disappointed."
