    Vocabulary Questions for a Hospital

    Hi teachers,
What's the difference between 'hall', 'corridor', and 'passageway' in a hospital building?
Is there a special name for the rooms in which the patients are in a hospital?

    Thanks in advance

A hall is a very general term used in a building which means the space where you enter the building, which is also called a foyer or lobby. A hall also means any spacious room.

Corridor and passageway mean the same thing - circulation space or walkways for people to walk.

The rooms which house the patients are called wards.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your reply.
Aren't wards rooms in a hospital usually holding six or more patients?
What about if in the room are only two patients or just one?

Rooms with one patient are called rooms. There could be several rooms of this type on a ward.

'Hall' or 'hallway' is sometimes used for a corridor, especially if it is quite wide.
