Once you've said one thing about the trip (it's yours) you can't add 'to visit...'.
I've silently fixed the tenses, which I'm sure wasn't a real' mistake. ;-)
But, if you want 'rains...made' you could always introduce a 'has'. And, if you want to be really fancy - and talk about the constant trouble you've been having - you could say 'It rains almost every day and the rain has been making it more difficult...'
