what does "minus" mean here? lost?

    Context:

Suddenly he appeared, with a silver-colored Morris taxi, and whisked her (minus a piece of luggage that in her agitation she left behind) to his room in a crowded section of the inner-city district of Hongkou.

She forgot it but we don't know if she lost it.

She left it behind, in her agitation.
Because she was agitated, she was not thinking clearly. Therefore, she forgot to take it. She did not lose it. Had she not been agitated, she would not have left it behind. It's all in the sentence.
