    independent contractors

What do you think is the difference between "independent contractors" and "free agents"? I found the definition of "independent contractors", but it seems little different from "free agents". They both seem not to belong to a company and work on their own.
P/S How can I find all my previous posts here? I seem to have lost them. When I clicked "my posts/my threads", nothing came up!!!

ex)Industrial society set a clear border between life at home and life on the job. Today, however, for the growing millions who work from home, the line is unclear. Robert Reich, a labor expert, points out that a significant part of the labor force consists of independent contractors, free agents and others who work in company A but are actually employees of company B. “In a few years,” says Reich, “a company may be best defined by who has access to what data and who gets what portion of revenues over what period of time. There may be no ‘employees’ at all, strictly speaking.” It is certain that revolutions in labor environment smash boundaries.

Wow! You buried that question deep in your text. I nearly missed it.

Yes, the meaning is the same, but "free agent" is a term usually associated with professional athletes.
