tell & to in one sentence

I didn't tell about it anybody.
I didn't tell about it to anybody.

Are these sentences correct? Is it correct to use "to" after the verb "tell"?

Of course, I know that I could also say "I didn't tell anybody about it", but I am curious about other options.

"I didn't tell about it to anybody" might be grammatically correct, but it is completely unnatural. You know the natural way to say it.

Re: tell & to in one sentence

Neither of them would be used by native speakers.

We would say, " I didn't tell anybody (or anyone) about it."

You could use "to" after "tell", but only in a sentence like, "Wow! Have I got a tale to tell to you!", but even here, we'd be more likely to leave out the "to" and just say, "Have I got a tale to tell you!"

Not even that! 'Tell' with a prepositional IO complement can occur only with a direct object. This sentence has none.
