Hello,

I have just written an essay about being only child. Will you please check it?

In the twenty-first century many couples decided to have one child. Some children feel good without a siblings other wish they had a brother or sister. What are advantages and disadvantages of being an only child?

The main advantage is that parents are much focused about rising an one child. It is at the centre of attention and it generates a strong relationship with parents. Moreover parents do not have to spend money on another child and you are getting larger share of family income. Besides only child does not have to share a room or computer or other things. You can do whatever and anytime you want and no one disturbs you.

Neverthelless, being an only child has a disadvantages. The main is that child usually spend much time alone. Their characters become selfish and unsociable, it might have a problem with socializing with society and people in neighborhood. Another disadvantage is that only children are under parents pressure. They do not have freedom of choice or own plans about future. As a result they become dependent on parents.

In conclusion, being an only child has as same drawbacks and advantages. I think the main role play parents. It depends on them how they will grow up their only child or children.

Hello Mr Wuu,
I have made a few suggestions below. Your essay was clear and logical, and despite what it may look like, there were no real major errors. Keep an eye on your pronouns and articles.
Good luck.

In the twenty-first century many couples have decided to have only one child. Some children feel good without [STRIKE]a[/STRIKE] siblings, others wish they had a brother or sister. What are the advantages and disadvantages of being an only child?

The main advantage is that parents are much more focused [STRIKE]about[/STRIKE] on raising [STRIKE]an[/STRIKE] their only child. [STRIKE]It[/STRIKE] The child is at the centre of their attention and [STRIKE]it[/STRIKE] generates (maybe forms would be a better word here) a strong relationship with the parents. Moreover, parents do not have to spend money on any other children, and [STRIKE]you are[/STRIKE] so the child [STRIKE]getting[/STRIKE] gets a larger share of the family income. Besides, an only child does not have to share a room or computer or other things. [STRIKE]You[/STRIKE] They can do whatever they want, [STRIKE]and[/STRIKE] anytime [STRIKE]you[/STRIKE] they want, and no one disturbs [STRIKE]you[/STRIKE] them.

Neverthe[STRIKE]l[/STRIKE]less (however may be a better word here), being an only child has [STRIKE]a[/STRIKE] disadvantages too. The main one is that the child usually spends much time alone. Their characters become selfish and unsociable, and they [STRIKE]it[/STRIKE] might have [STRIKE]a[/STRIKE] problems [STRIKE]with[/STRIKE] socializing with society and people in their neighborhood (maybe just the people around them). Another disadvantage is that an only child[STRIKE]ren[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]are[/STRIKE] is under [STRIKE]parents[/STRIKE] pressure from their parents. They do not have freedom of choice, or their own plans about the future. As a result they become dependent on their parents.

In conclusion, being an only child has as [STRIKE]same[/STRIKE] many drawbacks [STRIKE]and[/STRIKE] as advantages. I think the main role is played by the parents. It depends on them how they will [STRIKE]grow up[/STRIKE] raise their only child [STRIKE]or children[/STRIKE].
