    presidency comes to an end

What does a president do when his presidency comes to an end? He resigns? The termination of a presidency?

Re: presidency comes to an end

Which president? In normal cases, the term of the office expires and the old president transfers power to the new one. The peaceful transition of power, it is called.

Re: presidency comes to an end

That's what I meant. If I said "a president resignd",would it mean that he was forced out of office? Could I say the termination of the length of presidency?

Re: presidency comes to an end

Having to resign would probably be disgraceful, unless for health reasons. I'm not at all clear which president you are talking about and what you are trying to say.

You just did. You can say that a president's term ended or expired.

Re: presidency comes to an end

You can say that a president leaves office when their term comes to an end too.

Re: presidency comes to an end

When someone's term of office expires, they don't have to "do" anything. It's all automatic. They finish and the next person takes over. If they resign, then they choose to leave the job before its expiry. The president doesn't terminate the presidency. When he/she starts the job, it has a definite lifespan. Provided he/she does not resign/retire/die before that date, he/she knows that the job ends on that date.
