‘The movie is still showing to a packed theater on most evening.

In the above sentdnce, I wonder why ‘to‘ is used before ‘packed theater‘.

Why not ‘in‘ ?

Thank you.

Thank you.

By "packed theater" they mean "audience".

Hi, I'm pretty comfortable with the preposition "to", but what really made me wonder was the part that says "the movie is showing" and, because I would have preferred a passive construction there, I'm a bit curious if "the movie is being shown" is possible instead and how common/idiomatic the active version is. Thank you for your help.
