I have read this : The verbs hate, love, like, prefer are usually followed by a gerund when the meaning is general, and by a to-infinitive when they refer to a particular time or situation. You must always use the to-infinitive with the expressions 'would love to', 'would hate to', etc."
When we use 'would' for future in past, can we use it with 'gerund'?
For example: I knew you would love playing.....
Second question: I have read up to now the usage of 'would prefer + V ing'. Is that impossible?
-I would prefer eating at home to going to a restaurant.
