Please I want know [STRIKE]why[/STRIKE]whether 'y' in 'yet' [STRIKE]if[/STRIKE] is a consonant.
In IPA 'yet' is /jet/ and 'j' [STRIKE]in[/STRIKE] is a consonant.
The letter 'y' represents a glide, or semi-vowel, in 'yet.

IPA /j/ is different from the grapheme <j> in English. IPA /j/ = English <y>

< > = grapheme
/ / = phoneme
[ ] = phone
