grounding, to tune out, to tune in

    Dear Teachers,

I read this from The Right to Write by Julia Cameron:

"I've written since I was very young,...I have written for love, for money, for escape, for grounding, to tune out, to tune in, and to do almost anything that writing could be made to do."

What do "grounding", "to tune out" and "to tune in" mean in this context?

Although there are particular meanings in informal writing/conversation for those terms (easily found on the web), given the context in which they are presented, I suggest you check with Julia.
