    Subscription date or day?

    Dear teachers

Is it both grammatically correct to use date and day in the following context?

    First subscription date/day: 1 May 2012

    Please advise

Yes, both "day" and "date" are possible.

As posted, with either day/date and the actual date (month, day, year), I would understand the statement. But using "day" in the statement, would strike me as unusual, because when I would read/hear "day", I would expect to read/hear a day of the week e.g. Sunday, Monday etc.

    Re: Subscription date or day?

I agree with Billmcd on this. The initial/first subscription date is 1 May 2012. From then on, the annual subscription date is 1 May. For me, the subscription day would be unlikely because you don't usually subscribe to things on a day of the week.
