Does it mean "in the intention to make the both equal (to each other)?"
In earlier work I have drawn attention to what I call the “prophetic voice” in the later Confucian tradition — in the Neo-Confucianism of the Sung dynasty and after — which challenged and judged severely the politics of the late imperial dynasties in China. Without intending any exact or entire equation of the Confucian noble voice with prophetic utterance in the more theistic traditions, wherein the prophet has often renounced the world and
“gone out into the desert,” I wished to show that even a world-affirming Confucian could render severe judgments on the estab-lished order, asserting absolute claims on behalf of inner conscience. As I said of this distinction:

I think the speaker is stating only that they are not trying to encompass all of Confucianism.
