This is from a workbook, and I don't think "family man" is proper, it should be "a dedicated family man", right?
And what are similar expression for "under mom's thumb"? I remember "He is a hen-pecked husband".

A:Wow, your father is a family man.
B:Maybe. But the reason why my dad did so was because my mom forced him to do it.
He's under mom's thumb.

This is from a workbook, and I don't think "family man" is proper, it should be "a dedicated family man", right? The term "family man" implies a degree of dedication. Adding "dedicated" is not necessary, but adds emphasis.
And what are similar expression for "under mom's thumb"? I remember "He is a hen-pecked husband". While not having exactly the same meaning, you could say that he's a "tormented" husband or that Mom "wears the pants" in the family.
