    since, tense

    1. Since I came into contact with chess, it has had a fascination for me.
    2. Since I have come into contact with chess, it has had a fascination for me.
    Which of the above sentences is correct?

    The first is correct. 'Since' points to a time in the past, as a rule you use it with a past tense.

    The first one is correct: past (your first contact with chess was in the past).
