    Use of gerund

    Do I say:
"When do you start work?", or
    "When do start working?"

    Re: Use of gerund

    You could say both

In the first case work is a noun.
In the second work+ing is a verb.

    You could also say:

When do you start to work?

    Hope it helps.

It really depends on what you mean. Do you want to know what time my working day starts? If so, then "When do you start work?" would be most appropriate. The answer would be, for example "8.30am".

However, if you know that I have just been successful at a job interview and I am due to start my new job in the next couple of weeks, you might ask "When do you start working?" The answer would be, for example "Next Monday".
