    doing shady businesses

    Hi

Does this sentence sound OK: Mike was always doing shady businesses. He lined his pockets dealing in stolen cars.

Also: Should I say, he lined his pockets by selling ... OR he lined his pockets selling (without "by")?

We say "doing business" regardless of how many different trades/companies are involved.
