best dream in a long while

    Dear teachers

    Is this text correct English?

I am with her, but I love someone else. This morning I dreamt I [had] proposed to the one I love, her saying 'yes' filled up my heart with joy for a few seconds, and later, it was terrible to wake up and realise it was just a dream.

    Thank you

Re: best dream in a long while

Its perfect; except for the "and later", it doesn't seem natural. I would replace it with "; it was...".
And the pluperfect is the best for this; it describes an event with significance relative to a time in the past. It also is the most natural.
