    It's essential to be able to translate words, but don't rely on any one single source. Best to have two or even three dictionaries and see if they all agree. Better if they do not so you can get a broader understanding of how ideas translate from one language to another.

    It can also be useful to translate a word from one language to another and then translate the result back into the original language to see what is 'lost' or changed in the translating.
