    give up

Hi, I have read the title of an article in the BBC News and it said:
"Mercury poles give up hints of water ice"

I know that the meaning of "give up" is "surrender"; has "give up" another meaning in this title?
    Thanks a lot
    Rip

I have heard the phrase "to give up your secrets". In this meaning, surrender is figurative. I think this is how the headline is using it.

I would interpret the meaning as simply, "provides". Use of "gives up" alludes to the mystery typically surrounding the planets and their apparent reluctance to "surrender" answers to our many questions about them.
