    found his groove

It was in Strikeforce (mixed martial arts organization) that "Vai Cavalo" (Brazilian fighter) finally found his groove, where he became the first man to definitively defeat Fedor Emelianenko.

What does it mean that he "found his groove"? Found his rhythm?

Not exactly. It means to be settled in and comfortable.
