[Grammar] Tag question with "used to"

A. wasn’t it? B. wasn’t there C. didn’t it D. didn’t there

I choose C.

Interesting one.

For this reply, I started to write an explanation of how you could work out that it was B. Then, the more I looked at it, the more I realised that I would say "There used to be ..., didn't there?"

I would use "wasn't there?" if the sentence had started "There was a famous ancient city ..."

I would use "wasn't there?" if the sentence had started "There was a famous ancient city ..."

I could see it either way. It would definitely be "Didn't there used to be..." if written that way.

I'd use D), but B) sounds OK to me too and could imagine using it in conversation. In answering a question like this, though, I would choose D).
