    present perfect or past tense ?

    Hello Teacher, are these sentences correct?

    I called you several times on your cell today but the message said you were not available.

    or

    I have called you several times today on your cell but the message said you were not available.

    Both are OK.

    Either is OK, but simple past (called) is more natural/common.
