Hello Teachers,

I was on a break and having some snacks at the cafeteria ealier today. I see a woman watching her probably two kids eating. The woman tells one of her kids, "Don't speak when your mouth is full."

I got curious if that sentence is correct. I think "Don't TALK when your mouth is full" is better. But I'm still not so sure, so I posted it here.

Thanks so much for your help.

I have no problem with either "talk" or "speak" but for your information, in BrE, it's "with your mouth full" not "when your mouth is full". "Talk" is probably the most common.

Don't talk with your mouth full.

I see a woman watching her probably two kids eating.

This sounds like you had difficulty counting them.

Actually, I was not sure if the woman is the mother of the two kids. That's why I used the word "probably."

You'll have to say that you saw a woman watching two kids who were probably hers / her own.
