    You look so studios

    Hi,

You are at work. You are on your way to your workstation from the pantry. A colleage sees you and says, "You look so studios.'' And you tell him, "No, I don't."

Is the sentence "No, I don't" is the correct reponse to the statement above?

    Thanks so much your help.

No. You can't say how you appear to your colleague.

Hmm, but the following is common:

A: You look like an idiot in that tie.
    B: No, I don't.

That is, B is not telling A how he appears to A. He's really asserting that his tie doesn't make him look (generally) like an idiot.

no,I dont think so because ''you look so studios'' is a statement not a yes/ no question.

I can see 5jj's logic, but I think you could answer No, I don't.

    Welcome to the forum, Noha.

Please read the forum rules - especially this one:

Replying in the Ask a Teacher section
You are welcome to reply to any of the questions posted in the Ask a Teacher Forum, even if you are not a teacher. In fact, your answers and contributions are most welcome. However, please ensure you state clearly in your post that you are not a teacher.

A statement can be contradicted by 'No, I don't'.

    Note: "Colleague" and "studious."

The best answer depends on how you take the idea that you are "studious" and how well you know this colleague.

"No, I don't" is possible. As is "thank you very much" or "yeah, that's what she said."
