    What does the following statement mean? Is this an expression or a grammatical term?
    "It had better do some research first"

    The setence itself means little unless we know what 'it' is.

    If you 'had better' do something, it means that it would be better for you if you did it. 'Had better' is one way of giving strong advice. advice.
