[General] presume vs assume

I searched about difference between these two verbs, but I couldn't undrestand their usage. would you please help me

These days, for most speakers, there is no difference for most speakers, though in the OALD sense 4 of "presume to do sth - (formal)'to behave in a way that shows a lack of respect by doing sth that you have no right to do: I wouldn't presume to tell you how to run your own business," 'assume' could not be used.
