    Is it correct?

    "Poverty has been prevalent the world over since the earliest civilisations."
    Is this sentence correct?

    To be honest, I think the sentence is fine the way it is. Putting 'in' here sounds strange to me.
    If 'over' wasn't in the sentence it would sound all right, though.
