    Question on dictation.

    Hi teachers,
In English when you finish a sentence yo have to use a 'period' or 'full stop'.
What do you say in class when the students have to begin a new sentence on the line below? Full stop and ...

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Question on dictation.

If you've said 'full stop', then students should know that they leave a space before the first word of the next sentence. If you want them to begin a 'new paragraph', then say those words.

    Hi 5jj,
Thank you for your reply. Then I should say, 'full stop, new paragraph'.

Yes, unless you feel like saying 'Shazam'.

Sometimes it will be very good to say in class 'Shazam' and just read the lyrics and listen to the music.
