Re: the meaning of "for the day"

    ***** NOT A TEACHER *****

He did not go to the office that day.

Manager: Why were you absent yesterday?

The Parser: I decided to go fishing.

Manager: Congratulations! You will now have time to go fishing every day. You are fired! Get out!

But that only applies when the verb is 'absented' (or something like that). After a hard day's work someone might say: 'That's it - I'm done for the day.'
