Hello, how have you been? Today, I have brought two sentences to compare in meaning.
This device is used for making computers.
This device is used to make computers.
I have found the two sentences and I think meaning of the two is the same but I am not sure, so I really need your help.
Thank you in advance.
A great many processes and components go into the production of computers. I don't think a single device (whatever it is) can be said to make them.
I'd say 'This device is used in the manufacture of computers'.
However, you could say
'Eggs are used to make omelettes' and
'Eggs are used for making omelettes',
although I prefer the first version.
