    A question about a sentence.

I am wondering if this sentence is grammatically correct:

    1. If one does not have the right attitude to life, enormous amounts of money cannot help him or her.
Or could one use another construction to avoid "him or her" and write:

    2. If persons do not have the right attitude to life, enormous amounts of money cannot help them.

or should one say: enormous amounts of money will not help them.

Re: A question about a sentence.

Few people object to using "them" for a single referent these days.
If a person does not have the right attitude toward life, no amount of money can help them.

If you object to the single "person" and plural "them."
For people with the wrong attitude toward life, no amount of money can help them.
If a person doesn't have the right attitude toward life, no amount of money can help.

Don't use "persons." It's unnatural in almost every situation, except perhaps the sign saying how many people can safely ride the elevator.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
