    (The) Countryside, (The) Seaside

I want to live in countryside.
I want to live in the countryside.

    I'm going to seaside.
    I'm going to the seaside.

Do I need the if I'm not talking about a specific place?

    Yes, you need a "the."

    Re: (The) Countryside, (The) Seaside

When used as a noun, those words always have a "the."

You might say "It's a lovely seaside restaurant" but that is using the word as an adjective.

You would not say "I like living by a seaside" or "...by seaside." You can only say "I like living by the seaside."
