    Grammatically what is the difference between the following two sentences.

    Grammatically what is the difference between the following two sentences.
    1. I had rather go home than stay out too late. (where to use had rather)
    2. I would rather go home than stay out too late. (where to use would rather)

    I'm not sure what you mean by "for a Non-English"

    However, #2 is grammatical, and #1 is not. Or if it is grammatical, it is not natural.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
