    He is furious now. But he will eventually forgive her. It is just a matter/question of time.


    Do both nouns work with this context and are no different from each other?

    Thanks a lot, Finicky. And can we use 'a question of life and death' in place of 'a matter of life and death'? I know dictionaries only include the latter, but I found on GOOGLE BOOKS there are half as many of the former as the latter.

    The numbers suggest that both exist, but the matter version is the more common and normal collocation- it sounds more natural to me.
