    bossed Aunt Kitty

1.What is "boss" as a verb here? The translation goes as just "said", but I think this means "someone acted as the boss or the leader".
2.What do you mean by "lifted his bag"? The translation goes "he came in holding his bag", but my feeling was, it might sound stupid, "he lifted his bag from downstairs to upstairs".

ex)Tommy whistled as he lifted his bag into the hallway. Big banners saying '100 years' were in the corridors. The presents were all put on a table in the center of the room and he shoved the hat box slightly on the ground under the table. "We'all eat first," bossed Aunt Kitty, "then everyone here will get their turn to give their present to Mammy." Tommy watched as people moved like a pack of migrant wildebeest towards the buffet table....

'Said in a bossy way' might be a better translation.

'Picked up and carried' is close. There is no idea of moving from downstairs to upstairs..

Thanks for your effort and answer despite no underlines. I wish the problem for not being able to use editing tools would be solved soon.
