    hi! well, in north america, most people pronounce this word like "SA - NA".

    but one of students said another teacher pronounce it "SO NA"

    she was from New Zealand. does this mean, Britons, New Zealanders and Australians pronounce it differently??

    You do hear some say the first syllable to rhyme with the 'ow' of 'cow' if that's what you mean, b ut it's not that common in the UK. .
