    prep + the way he treats

    1) A great man shows his greatness by the way he treats little men.

    2) A great man shows his greatness in the way he treats little men.

    3) A great man shows his greatness the way he treats little men.

    Are all three sentences correct? Is there any difference in meaning between them?

    3) is wrong. You need a preposition. 'In' is OK; I prefer by.
