    Plural number

A kid asked me why are some foods in plural but some are not. They are as follows:-

    1. Fruit
    2. Vegetables
    3. Spaghetti
    4. Noodles

    Thanks for your help.

    Re: Plural number

    1. "Fruits" is the plural when referring to more than one kind.
    2. You can have "a vegetable."
    3. Spaghetti is plural. In Italian.
    4. You can have "a noodle" but they are usually found in groups.

For the poster: SoothingDave is right that spaghetti is plural in Italian, but in English you should treat it as singular, because you say 'spaghetti is my favorite Italian dish,' and not 'spaghetti are ...'
