    Question what word?

Can you tell me what word stands for feeling exactly how a character in a book or a movie feels?

    (forgive my poor English)

And empathy is not reserved for the people in books or films. You can empathise with anyone if you know their circumstances and recognise how they're feeling, especially if you have personally felt that way yourself at some time.
